The Pearling Path Visitor and Experience Centre is designed by Valerio Olgiati Architects and is built on historical ruins of two traditional storehouses. We visited on a lovely Thursday afternoon and since it is a shaded area, the breeze passing through made for a pleasant visit. There is also a small enclosed museum that showcased beautiful sets of pearl jewellery. To know more about the Centre please visit their website in the link below. https://pearlingpath.bh/en/#introd
On the 4th of April, Team WAD visited the Bu Mahir Interpretive Centre located at the historic Bu Mahir Fort in Muharraq. The Bu Mahir Fort was built in 1840 and the remaining tower serves as a landmark where the Centre is located. The Centre displays an overview of the rich pearling history of Bahrain. As Architects, it was particularly interesting to read the stories of the clusters of historical buildings that played significant roles to the pearling community of Bahrain.
Team WAD was fortunate to have had a private tour of the Al Jalahma House in the heart of the historic city of Muharraq. At the time of our visit, studies were being made on how best to preserve the remaining structures.
